About me

I am currently working as an Applications Consultant at Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre (EPCC). Until January 2002, I was a researcher in the Numerical Analysis Group at the University of Strathclyde, working on `Adaptive methods for the computational solution of PDEs'. Between 1995 and 1998, I studied for a Ph.D. on `The robust and efficient numerical solution of singularly perturbed boundary value problems using grid adaptivity'. Previous to this I did a BA degree in mathematics at New College, Oxford, graduating in 1996.

My colleague, Mairi, and myself about to go whale watching, Ucluelet, B.C., Canada. (Click for enlargement).
Outside of work I enjoy, amongst other things; ballroom dancing, squash, swimming (I am a qualified ASA swimming teacher), running (slowly), cooking, cycling, music (if you count Suzanne Vega as music) and football.

I also enjoy travelling, and if you look at the photograph you will see my colleague, Mairi Robertson, and myself about to go whale watching in Canada.
